We’re back! After adjusting to life
during a pandemic that severely ham-pered our face-to-face communications, we were back this year talking to voters at farmer’s markets, schools, stores, and
even vaccination clinics. We even
registered a few voters on paper forms.
As we head into the 2022 Virginia
General Assembly session, we hope you will join in with
members from other local Leagues in Virginia at our Women’s
Legislative Roundtables (WLRT) each Wednesday morning
during the session. This year the WLRT will be hybrid, offering
both an in-person opportunity or an online option. We in the
Richmond Metro League are just a short Uber ride away from

the SunTrust Building in downtown Richmond where the in-
person weekly meetings will be held. Find more information

and registration instructions in the WLRT article on page 3.
Meanwhile your board has been busy executing a member
engagement survey that helped us gauge your interests and let
you ‘check the box’ for committees, interest groups, and studies.
We initiated regular new-member orientations to help
members, new and old, navigate through the broad and
sometimes complex League. We have begun the process of
chartering all our committees and have formed a small team to
update our bylaws to comply with the latest state and LWV-US
guidance. A Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) team is being formed
to educate and advocate locally. Most committees have found
that meeting on Zoom is convenient and time-saving.
The July surge limited our return to in-person meetings; but
vaccines, boosters, and better understanding of COVID have set

the stage for venturing out. We look forward to seeing you in-
person at our Advocacy Program meeting in January (see article

on Program Planning) and at beautiful Agecroft Hall for our
Annual Meeting in May.
