The League of Women Voters of the Richmond Metro Area is hosting a community event on ranked choice voting. The League does not have a position on this and we would like to learn more. We understand this may be brought up before the Virginia Assembly this session and we would like to educate ourselves and the community on this topic.
What is Ranked Choice Voting?
• a method of casting votes in races that have more than two candidates
• ensures that the winner has the support of a majority of voters
• sometimes called an “instant runoff” How does it work?
Should we adopt Ranked Choice Voting in Virginia? Learn more at an interactive presentation by FairVote Virginia.
Co-sponsoring this educational event are the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Greater Richmond Chapter, RepresentUs, Delta Sigma Theta sorority of Richmond and FairVote VA.
