We Do More for the Flu : Sexual and Domestic Violence Against Women
Many of us attended the very informative and alarming presentation by Lisa Sales last Wednesday evening. Lisa has shared her slides from the program with us for your reference. If you had to miss it, you can watch the slides.
In addition reference was made to Delegate Hala Ayala’s Resolution HR 277, which Lisa helped to author and was passed unanimously in the House. Also we are anxiously awaiting the Senate passage of the Violence Against Women Act (HR 1620) that passed the House again on March 17th.
Annoucement---
Guest Speaker:
Lisa Sales
Chair, Fairfax County Commission for Women
National ERA Coalition Advisory Board
Topic:
We do More for the Flu: Sexual and Domestic Violence in America*
We are delighted to welcome Ms. Sales as our speaker. Her story and experiences, the depth of her knowledge regarding the lack of equality for women and sexual and domestic violence, are topics most important, particularly as we endure the effects of the pandemic.
*The flu garners more money, attention, and urgency than sexual and domestic violence does.
Our meeting will provide time for questions and answers, an update on Board activities, and time for our members to speak.
